Chris began his career in transportation with London Transport in 1986, serving an engineering apprenticeship in vehicle body engineering. He worked in rolling stock maintenance and management until 1998 when he switched disciplines and entered Operations, being a Line Controller and latterly Operations Manager on the Jubilee Line during the opening of the Jubilee Line Extension.
Following a period of study, gaining an MBA, he left London Underground to join Bechtel in 2005. This period saw him support Tube Lines Ltd in their Control Systems team, providing operational expertise on the Jubilee and Northern Upgrade Project.
In 2006 Chris left Bechtel to become an independent consultant and soon afterwards formed Metro Development Solutions.
Chris's key assignments have included:
- Lead developer for rules and procedures on London Underground's upgrade investment programme
- Service control strategy
- Simulation analysis as a training tool
- Operational assurance
His interest in process and continuous improvement has recently led to achieving Lean Six Sigma black belt status.
